A 38-year-old teacher, Abubakar Muhammed, has been arrested by the Police for allegedly defiling four pupils inside a school premises in Gombe State.
The incident happened at Islamiyya School, located at Malam-inna Quarters in Gombe, where the suspect, Muhammed, was employed as a teacher.
The survivors, who are aged 8, 9, 12 and 14 years respectively are sisters from the same father, according to the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Mahid Abubakar
The teacher, according to the PPRO, ASP Abubakar, has been arrested by the Police operatives from the Gombe State Command and detained for further investigation for the alleged conduct.
The arrest of the suspect on March 7, 2023, at about 11am, followed complaints from the survivors' father, Adamu Ali.
The father reported to the Police that the alleged sexual assault on his children was committed between January and March, 2023 before the victims eventually revealed what happened to them to him.
The Police however, did not state how the suspect defiled the victims inside the school premises.
"The victims were taken to the hospital for medical examination,” the spokesman said.
Supol Abubakar further stated that the suspect, who was detained in Police custody, had confessed to the crime and would soon be charged to Court for prosecution after the conclusion of investigations by the Police.
The suspect may likely be charged for defilement, which attracts several years of imprisonment if he is tried and found guilty before the Court.
