Operatives of the Department of State Security (DSS)on Tuesday re-arrested the suspended Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor Godwin Emefiele at the Federal High Court in Lagos.

Emefiele is again in the custody of the DSS in contravention of the court order which instructed that the defendant be remanded in the custody of the Nigerian Correction Service (NCS) pending perfection of his bail conditions.

Justice Nicholas Oweibo had granted bail to the former CBN Governor in the sum of N20 million with one surety in like sum.

The premises of the Federal High Court became rowdy as officials of DSS and the Nigerian Correctional Services (Prisons) each made efforts to take custody of the former CBN Governor.

Emefiele was arraigned by the Federal Government  before the court and pleaded not guilty to a two-count charge of possession of a firearm without a license.

But he was not able to leave the courtroom immediately because of the imbroglio between the sister agencies.

A senior officer of the Correction Service was manhandled in the process and his uniform torn and pushed him out of the court.

The DSS blocked the entrance to the court with their vehicle to prevent the Correction Service officers from having their way.

At the end of the imbroglio, the  DSS seized Emefiele  and took him out of the court back into their custody.
