Majority Leader, Lagos State House of Assembly (LAHA), Hon. Sanai Agunbiade has expressed fear that a lot of prospective voters might be disenfranchised from participating in the process of electing a new president for the country.
Agunbiade lamented that inadequate supply of voters card and the slow pace of capturing by the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) might end up disenfranchising a lot of voters notwithstanding that there was massive turn out of people for the election in Ikorodu.
Agunbiade who is representing Ikorodu Constituency 1 further observed: "the election is peaceful, but the process is dragging and this may end up disenfranchising a lot of people who are willing to vote.
"Capturing by Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) was slow and it has remained slow and by the time it's programmed to end, a lot of people may not have voted.
"We observed in my polling unit 043, Awolowo road, Grammar School, Ota-Ona, Ikorodu that there is discrepancy in the number of voters cards for House of Representatives, Senate and the Presidential election.
"Where that of the Senate and house of representatives tally, that of the president fell short by 100.
In the sister polling booth, unit 055, that of the Presidency also fell short of that of the Senate and house of representatives."
He said they made efforts to complain but "we were advised to proceed, and we have proceeded.
"We just want make sure that at the end of the whole exercise, there won't be issues because this election has been very peaceful, every body going about his civic responsibility peacefully."
Agunbiade however commended the security agencies, INEC with it's collaboration with the state, the security agencies to ensure a rancour free exercise.
He noted that people trooped out to vote for their preferred candidate enmass, stressing that the results of the election will show who is the preferred candidate.
"No matter what happens, the man that have proven himself to have adequate support will win", he emphasized.
The Lagos State House of Assembly for Ikorodu Constituency II candidate on the ticket of the APC, Moshood Abiodun Aro, who voted at unit 017, Igbopa, Abule -Eko, Ijede area of Ikorodu said the process has been fair.
"This has been the most peaceful election I have ever witnessed in my lifetime.
"The turn out has also been massive as people turn out in large number to exercise their rights and cast their votes to the preferred candidate. So to me, the process has been very wonderful and it has been free and fair."
He noted that before the election, there has been so much tension in the society occasioned by new currency swap policy and lack of fuel to move around.
He said with the massive turn out recorded during the election, he was confident that his party's candidate will win the presidential election.
